Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ReefGenius (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Description of the Service

ReefGenius lets you photograph coral, fish, and tank conditions and receive AI-generated analysis and advice, along with tools to log parameters and track livestock, equipment, and tank history.

2. Not Professional Advice

The Service provides AI-generated, informational content only. It is not professional veterinary, aquatic biology, or aquarium consulting advice, and it is not a substitute for that advice. AI analysis can be incomplete or incorrect. You are solely responsible for decisions you make about your livestock, equipment, and tank based on information from the Service, and you should use independent judgment — and consult a qualified professional where appropriate — before acting on it, especially in situations affecting animal health or tank safety.

3. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to use the Service. You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for safeguarding your account credentials through our authentication provider.

4. Free Tier and Subscriptions

Free accounts are limited to a set number of AI queries (including follow-up messages) and a single tank profile. The Pro plan removes those limits for a recurring monthly subscription fee, billed and processed through our payment processor, Stripe; the current price is shown on the upgrade page before you subscribe. We may change query limits, plan features, or pricing at any time, but we'll present the applicable price and terms before you're charged.

Billing and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from your account settings; cancelling stops future renewals but your Pro access continues through the end of the period you already paid for. Fees are non-refundable, including for partial billing periods, except where required by law. Deleting your account cancels any active subscription immediately with no refund for the remaining period.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload content you don't have the right to share, or that is unlawful, abusive, or infringing.
• Use the Service to harm, harass, or impersonate others.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service's normal operation.
• Use the Service in a way that violates applicable law.

6. Your Content

You retain ownership of the photos, text, and other content you submit ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant us a license to store, process, and transmit it — including to third-party AI providers such as Anthropic — solely to operate and provide the Service to you.

7. Intellectual Property

ReefGenius and its branding, design, and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you rights to our trademarks or software beyond what's needed to use the Service.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including Microsoft (authentication, hosting, database, and storage), Anthropic (AI processing), and Stripe (payment processing for paid subscriptions). We are not responsible for outages or issues originating from these third parties.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate or complete.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ReefGenius will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of livestock, equipment, profits, or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or $50 if you have not paid us anything.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold ReefGenius harmless from claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Service.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
